Mission
We are passionate about your eyes, and about building long-lasting relationships. Our goal is to ensure your eyes remain healthy throughout your life. We are all about service, love, kindness and a belief in strong community. Through our holistic approach to caring for you and our dedication to learning, we pioneer carefully researched new treatments, technology, and products to help ensure eye health.

A complete eye exam is the best way to determine a patient’s contact lens prescription and preferable type of contact lens

Your overall eye health is also checked to ensure no health conditions interfere with successful contact lens wear.  Our optometrists will determine if you are a good candidate and then proceed with the consultation and fitting process.

In determining what lenses would be best suited for you, we take into consideration your lifestyle and preferences.  For example, you might want to change your eye color with color contact lenses, or want to try such options such as daily disposables or overnight wear.  Daily disposable or frequent replacement lenses have lower rates of infection, improved comfort and a lesser degree of dryness.

Specialty Contact Lens Fittings

If you have high astigmatism, Keratoconus, corneal damage from injury / trauma, and glasses are unable to correct your vision, or if you would like to supplement the glasses you already wear, numerous contact lens options are available to provide significant vision improvement.

Our optometrists fit the following lenses:

  • rigid gas permeable contact lenses (RGP) are made of an oxygen permeable rigid material and is smaller than the size of the corneal diameter.  The rigidity helps to mask corneal irregularity and provide clearer vision,
  • hybrid contact lenses are designed with a rigid gas permeable lens center and a soft lens skirt to help lens centration and provide added comfort when wearing the lens,
  • scleral lenses are a larger diameter rigid gas permeable lens which vault over the entire cornea without touching the corneal surface, Watch the positive impact scleral can make to your quality of life.
  • multifocal contact lenses  are a great alternative or complement to progressive eyewear.

Recommendations

Your contact lens fitting will involve follow-up visits for our doctor to confirm the lenses are fitting your eyes properly, and that your eyes are able to tolerate contact lens wear. If you wear contact lenses, your eyes should be examined at least once a year to make sure your lenses continue to fit well and that your eyes show no signs of damage from overwearing the lenses.

If you are interested in being fit with contact lenses or need to be trained in the use and care, give our office a call and book an appointment with our optometrists.

Contact Lens Recycling at our Calgary Eye Clinic

Do ever think about what happens to your used contact lenses and packaging? Every year over 290 million contacts end up in Canadian landfills and waterways. That’s a lot of waste and plastic that ends up in our environment!  In 2020, we are going more green and are now a Calgary contact lens recycling collection center as part of the Every contact counts program in partnership with Bausch & Lomb Canada and Terracycle.

So how can you help? It’s very simple, here’s how you can join the movement and participate in helping us recycle your contact lenses.

Step 1 : Collect your old contact lenses and blister pack with foil in a small plastic bag or drop by our office and pick one up. Don’t include any solution or cardboard packaging (the latter can be included in your regular home recycling).

Step 2 : When the bag gets full, drop it off at our clinic Eyedeology in the designated bin at the front of our clinic.

Step 3 : Repeat! And feel good about doing your part to help preserve and take care of our environment.
