Dr. Jessica Yang, OD is a proud Calgarian who brings hometown warmth and exceptional clinical training to her patients at Eyedeology. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Calgary before completing her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science.
During her final year, Dr. Jessica completed an ocular disease externship at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where she gained advanced experience diagnosing and managing glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye disease, and diabetic retinopathy. This experience sparked her lasting passion for providing comprehensive medical eye care.

As a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) for Labtician, Dr. Jessica also educates and trains clinicians on ocular surface disease, eyelid hygiene, and Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) management.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Jessica enjoys hiking the trails around Calgary, baking, and learning new languages. Her patients often say her calm, thorough approach makes complex conditions feel manageable.

Myopia Management & Orthokeratology

Dr. Jessica holds an International Academy Certification in Myopia Management and is an elite member of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control. She is one of Calgary’s experienced practitioners in evidence-based myopia management, working closely with families to create personalized treatment plans that help slow myopia progression and protect long-term eye health using Ortho-K, MiSight® daily contact lenses, low-dose atropine therapy, or specialized spectacle lenses.

Dry Eye Disease

Dr. Jessica is passionate about helping patients reclaim their comfort and quality of life from dry eye disease. Taking on a multifaceted approach that combines the latest diagnostic technology and in-office treatments alongside personalized at-home therapy and ocular nutrition guidance, she understands that dry eye is a complex, chronic condition and is committed to getting to the root cause for every patient.

Specialty Contact Lenses

Dr. Jessica is well versed in fitting specialty contact lenses for patients whose vision needs go beyond what standard lenses can offer and her toolkit includes scleral, hybrid, rigid gas permeable (RGP), orthokeratology, and multifocal contact lenses, with each lens carefully chosen to suit the patient’s vision, lifestyle, and overall eye health.

Keratoconus & Complex Corneal Care

Keratoconus and other corneal irregularities are among Dr. Jessica’s areas of clinical interest. Using advanced corneal topography and imaging, she monitors disease progression and provides individualized treatment plans, including custom specialty contact lenses such as scleral and hybrid lenses, to maximize vision, comfort, and long-term ocular health. She also manages patients with post-surgical corneas and other complex or irregular corneal conditions where specialty lenses are often the only option for achieving comfortable, high-quality vision.
