Areas of Special Interest

Binocular Vision, Eye Teaming & Learning

Pia has a special interest in assessing and treating binocular vision dysfunction, where the eyes struggle to work together, including convergence insufficiency, convergence excess, accommodative disorders, and oculomotor dysfunction. Because these visual skills are essential for reading and learning, Pia also works with children and adults experiencing learning-related vision difficulties, helping strengthen visual processing, eye coordination, and visual comfort for improved performance at school, work, and in everyday life.

Strabismus & Amblyopia

With extensive experience in vision therapy, Pia treats patients of all ages with strabismus (eye turns) and amblyopia (lazy eye) across all age groups. Vision therapy under Pia’s guidance provides a non-surgical, evidence-based approach to improving eye alignment, binocular function, and visual acuity, complementing any optical or medical treatment the patient may be receiving.

Concussion & Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation

Pia provides vision rehabilitation for patients recovering from concussion and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Working alongside Dr. Farrah, Dr. Jessica, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams, she develops individualized rehabilitation programs to improve reading, balance, light sensitivity, and daily function, helping patients return to school, work, sport, and everyday life.

Primitive Reflex Integration, Therapeutic Prisms & Sports Vision

Drawing on advanced training in vision therapy, Pia incorporates a variety of techniques that support visual, neurological, and motor function. Her approach includes primitive reflex integration to address retained infant reflexes that can affect visual development and coordination, therapeutic yoked prisms to improve balance, posture, spatial awareness, and visual function, and syntonic phototherapy, a light-based therapy that supports visual processing and neurological function. As a member of the College of Syntonic Optometry (CSO), she works closely with our optometrists to incorporate syntonics into individualized vision therapy programs. Pia also provides sports vision training to help athletes enhance visual performance, reaction time, hand-eye coordination, and decision-making.
