Tired Sore Eyes at the End of the Day?

Most of us experience tired sore eyes at the end of the workday after spending many hours in front of a digital device.  Similarly, you may be noticing it is harder to focus on distance targets after staring at your computer monitor?  Over 40 and noticing a lag in your focusing system?  Moving materials further away to see them?

Fortifeye Focus is a nutritional formulation that combines three carotenoids – astaxanthin, lutein and zeaxanthin to help combat tired sore eyes and helps the eyes focus.  So how does it work?

Astaxanthin – a newer nutrient found in microalgae, yeast, salmon, trout, krill, shrimp, crayfish and crustraceans. This carotenoid works as both an antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory. Clinical studies have shown that 6 mg of Astaxanthin can improve blood flow to the eyes and help reduce eye fatigue which helps to focus close up tasks (accommodation).  This antioxidant is shown to be more powerful than vitamin E and beta-carotene against oxygen radicals.

After the age of 40 years, our eyes start to lose the ability to focus up close. Studies indicate that astaxanthin may help in muscle recovery and reduce muscle fatigue. Astaxanthin also helps to protect against sun damage and is linked to healthier skin and less fine lines and wrinkles after only a few months of use.

Lutein– a carotenoid is found in dark green leafy vegetables (spinach and kale), and other natural sources. Clinical studies have shown that Lutein increases macular pigment density. Lutein and Zeaxanthin are found in the retina and lens, where they may act as natural antioxidants and help absorb damaging, high-energy blue and ultraviolet light and maintain photoreceptor and retinal health and function.  Studies have suggested that people who have diets rich in green, leafy vegetables—a good source of lutein/zeaxanthin—have a lower risk of developing AMD. In the AREDS2 trial, people who seemed to benefit most from taking lutein/zeaxanthin were those who did not get much of these nutrients in their diet. Lutein also reduces the risk of cataracts.

Zeaxanthin – is another important carotenoid found in the retina and lens. Natural sources of zeaxanthin include gogi berries and orange bell peppers.  Lutein and Zeaxanthin are found in the retina and lens, where they may act as natural antioxidants and help absorb damaging, high-energy blue and ultraviolet light and maintain photoreceptor and retinal health and function.  Zeaxanthin has proved useful for advanced stages of diabetic retinopathy and wet or advanced stage of age related macular degeneration.
